Police force faces backlash for Tweet comparing kissing under mistletoe to rape

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) posted: ‘If you bump into that special someone under the mistletoe tonight, remember that without consent it is rape #SeasonsGreetings.’

It took minutes before the force’s 159,000 followers started accusing the social media team of peddling ‘nonsense’ and roundly mocking the tweet, which was posted on Saturday morning.

One user, @Renown_Vet, said: ‘Since when did a kiss under the mistletoe turn into rape? Get a grip, and start being thief takes again not half arsed SJWs [social justice warriors].’
