Why ‘Jansporting’ is dangerous for students drinking too much

It might seem like a sensible idea to make sure someone stays in the recovery position, but this ‘trend’ has already been linked to several deaths.

So-called ‘Jansporting’ involves putting a backpack on someone passed out from drinking, to make sure they stay on their side.

It’s supposed to stop them choking on their own sick – but it doesn’t work.

That’s because if someone is genuinely drunk enough to the point of aspirating on their own vomit, they need to be in hospital.

Two students in the US have already died after their friends strapped a rucksack on them and assumed they would be okay.
