Christmas ‘ruined’ for families who discovered supermarket-bought turkey had gone mouldy

Dozens of families were left without a traditional Christmas dinner after finding that they had bought a ‘rotten turkey’ from the supermarket.

Companies including Morrisons, Aldi, Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury’s have all come under fire as customers took to social media to share images of their ‘mouldy’ food.

Each person that complained online also claimed that the turkey’s packaging had said best December 26 or 27 – meaning that the food should have been safe to eat on Christmas Day

Many complained that the meat ‘stank’ and had ‘ruined Christmas’ while several families found that it had even gone green in colour.

‘Took it out of the oven and all this stuff came pouring out. The smell was sickening. Least to say my family saved the day my sister had a spare turkey crown.’

‘No Christmas turkey for the family, the one we bought from Chester @SainsburysNews @sainsburys is clearly rancid – any ideas? Have family of 6 to feed?’ Giancarlo Biagini said.

‘@Tesco thanks! Your turkey stinks and has ruined our Christmas dinner today! Nice one! #smellyturkey,’ Twitter user Music Monster complained.
