Samsung is expected to launch the much anticipated foldable Galaxy X at the start of next year. A fresh set of reports reveal that the phone will have 7-inch screen and a secondary display as well.
This year has been the year of foldable phone’s hype, fuelled rumors, leaks, and speculations. The most talked about the foldable phone has remained the Samsung Galaxy X, expected to be the competitor of iPhone X. It was initially speculated that the phone will make its way to market this year with the launch of other Galaxy S series but now another report has surfaced through Wall Street Journal. The report sheds more light on the future of this foldable smartphone, how it will look like and when will it hit the market.
Expected to be released at the start of next year, the foldable phone will have a 7-inch screen which makes it more like a foldable tablet than a handy smartphone. It is expected to have a price tag of $1,900, a price point which will make a lot of Samsung product enthusiasts uncomfortable too. With the launch of iPhone X, we have seen other smartphone manufacturers adding premium features including face unlock, dual and triple cameras, expensive exterior and branding of premium brands to lure customers into buying smartphones with a hefty price tag of $1,000.
But these brands also have understood that there is only a very niche segment in the market capable of affording such smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy X will also lie in the same category of flagships for niche markets.
If the reports are believed to be true, Consumer Electronics Show will be the best and most relevant platform for Samsung to reveal their foldable innovation and have enough time to build up their sales till the next iPhone is launched later that year.
What are your thoughts? Will you buy a $2,000 foldable smartphone?
