Nokia 9 with Snapdragon 845 & in-display fingerprint sensor may be coming

HMD Global has released a number of smartphones under the Nokia brand already. Most of these devices have been low-end and mid-range devices and this has left out a big segment of the community. For those of us waiting for the company to create something impressive and unique, it’s good to hear that they have been doing just that under the codename A1 Plus. Until now, that’s all the information we had to go on, but a new report suggests this new high-end smartphone (likely the Nokia 9) will sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Internally, the device has been referred to as A1 Plus, A1P, and AOP and this may seem familiar as the Nokia 8 Sirocco flagship from earlier this year was internally referred to as A1N. This could be HMD Global just going up the alphabet or it could mean that the upcoming high-end smartphone could share a number of similarities with the Nokia 8 Sirocco. The report from WinFuture did specifically mention that the alleged Nokia 9 smartphone would be equipped with the Snapdragon 845 chipset so that’s one area where it’s seeing an upgrade.

Another upgrade seems to be the implementation of the in-display fingerprint sensor. This is something that we’ve watched Samsung plan in their flagship devices for years now and have yet to release a final product with it. We have seen it appear in other devices like the new Vivo Nex S with the pop-up camera. Another area of interest in this new report talks about the importance of the camera of the Nokia A1 Plus. We aren’t given many details about this, though, but the development team is said to have gone through various hurdles to get it working how they wanted.
