It’s fair to say that Janet Jackson owned the Billboard Music Awards last night (20 May).
Jackson made a triumphant return to the public eye with her appearance at the awards, where she picked up the Icon Award – becoming the first black female artist to do so.
After making a speech which called out domestic abuse and solidified her support for the #MeToo movement, Jackson then returned to the main stage to deliver her first live TV performance in over nine years.
