Xiaomi Mi 5 was announced at MWC two years ago, while the company didn’t use support from any big tech show for unveiling Mi 6. For now, it looks like Xiaomi could be planning to launch the Mi 7 flagship smartphone at the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in late February. Xiaomi has been listed as an exhibitor at MWC on the official Mobile World Congress page.
There have been rumors about Xiaomi’s next flagship Mi 7 launch in the first half of the year. Xiaomi’s next flagship is quite close to launching and it will succeed the Mi 6. The company is also confirmed to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor inside the Mi 7. Last month, Xiaomi during the second Snapdragon Technology Summit in Hawaii announced that the Mi 7 will be the first smartphone to be powered by a Snapdragon 845 mobile processor. “We have chosen Snapdragon 845 to power our next flagship smartphone,” Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun had said during the technology summit when Qualcomm introduced its latest chipsets.
Xiaomi Mi 7 is also rumored to be featuring a 6-inch 18:9 panel made by Samsung. Other rumors also hint at facial recognition tech and Qi wireless charging. There are no firm details at the moment, but we expect Xiaomi to unveil the Mi 7 at the MWC 2018 and not at a dedicated event in China.
