Tokio Myers is attempting to change the face of music.
The music scene has developed exponentially in the last 10 years. Genres have expanded, blended, artists often can no longer be pigeon-holed into a category, it’s becoming more political, how we access and consume music has been completely revamped. Some big changes are a foot.
And Tokio Myers is one such artist trying to help rewrite the score.
He is a multi-instrumentalist, a one man band if you will, and when I saw him live recently, his music made me stop dead. His sound is huge, emotive, and meaningful, and watching him perform is exhausting in itself as he swings between piano, electric drums and sampler workstation.
