A man appeared to have his own prosthetic leg stolen by a thief who ran away swinging it in the air in the background of a live TV interview.
The bizarre incident played out as a sports reporter from US TV station KSEE24 in Fresno, California, reported on a college American football game.
Reporter Andrew Marden and his camera operator were seemingly unaware of what was playing out behind them – but viewers on social media noticed it all.
In the clip, a man runs through the playing field, swinging the prosthetic in the air.
Five seconds later he is followed by another man – who appears to have one amputated leg – chasing after him in hot pursuit.
The two run out of shot as the clip cuts out, so it is unclear how the incident ended.
But since the broadcast on Saturday, the clip has gone viral online.
An original tweet of the moment, posted by a Twitter user named Andrew – has 35,000 likes and 16,000 re-tweets.
Reporter Andrew Marden later tweeted: ‘I had no idea that was even happening, obviously.’
He also added that his right shoulder had ‘made it’ and that his camera operator was ‘more worried about the framing and lighting than paying attention to a couple of people running in the background’.
