George Takei has accused Donald Trump of using migrant children as ‘hostages’ in a bid to build his border wall.
The Star Trek actor said the current policy of separating children from their parents at the U.S border is worse than the Japanese internment camp he experienced as a child.
The 81-year-old spoke as new figures emerged that now more than 2,300 children have been removed from their families in the last six weeks by the Trump administration.
They are being held in metal cages while their parents await prosecution, accused of entering the United States illegally.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid he called the policy ‘cruel’ and it could be stopped at any time.
‘This was a policy that came down two months ago, the zero-tolerance policy propagated by the Trump administration. That was when families were being broken up.
