The Xiaomi Mi A1 is an Android One device that initially launched with Android 7.1 Nougat. The Mi A1 is the first Android One device that has been available to every market worldwide, as opposed to previous generations that were only available in locally based markets. Based on Xiaomi’s Mi 5X, the A1 is a very compelling option for Stock Android Enthusiasts looking for a budget friendly device that runs on a less modified version of Android.
The GPL (GNU General Public License) states that any modification made to the Linux kernel, which is what Android is built on, must be publicly shared. Xiaomi released the kernel source code for Nougat in January, but now we have it for Oreo as well. With the device kernel source code publicly available, developers can begin porting custom recoveries as well as popular ROMs to the device.
