She can hardly perform a trick and was just happy to get through the Winter Olympics without falling over, but that hasn’t stopped Elizabeth Swaney from becoming an internet sensation at the Pyeongchang Games.
Viewers watching qualification for the women’s ski half-pipe were bemused by Swaney’s two runs. While every other competitor was attempting outrageous tricks and getting as much air as possible in a bid to score points from the judges, Swaney instead took things a bit more steadily. She tried nothing more than a basic alley-oop and her scores of 30.00 and 31.40 left her 13.60 points behind the next competitor, despite them slipping over twice.
But on completing the course, and finishing last of the 24 competitors, she looked delighted.
