Looks like Pakistan is soon going to witness another big merger in the consumer tech products segment. After last year’s merger of two telecom giants Mobilink and Warid, now rebranded as Jazz. Techno Mobile a Chinese smartphone manufacturer is said to be in talks for an operation-level merger with Infinix Mobile and itel Mobile.
There have been rumors about the merger between the three companies that it will take place in few emerging markets including Pakistan. The sales and marketing teams of the companies will coordinate with each other, while the original brand identity of all the three companies will remain the same. A Tecno Mobile representative when asked about the upcoming merger by TechJuice staff, acknowledged the news of the merger while stating that a merger could take place, yet they are unable to disclose further details.
Infinix Mobile which is based in Hong Kong and has expanded its operation in 30 other countries is a popular smartphones brand in the Middle East. The merger with Tecno Mobile in Pakistan will be quite supportive for Infinix as the company lags official distributor in the country and sells its smartphones through online retailers. On the other hand, Tecno has United Mobile as its smartphone distributor, which has outstandingly promoted the company to the local retailers. Meanwhile, itel Mobile is another emerging smartphones manufacturer mainly popular in Africa.
In addition, Tecno Mobile which was launched in Pakistan back in April 2017 has strengthened its sales by providing camera-centric and budget-friendly smartphones including the likes of Camon CX, WX4 Pro, and Spark Pro. The upcoming merger if successful could expedite the sales of all the three companies in Pakistan.
