LG G7: What we know so far about launch date and specs

LG’s upcoming flagship, LG G7 is the predecessor of last year’s LG G6. Earlier rumors have dashed hopes for its fans that it will not make an appearance next month at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. However, this doesn’t mean that flagship has been delayed for a long time. As a matter of fact, the South Korean company unveils its flagship in the first half of the year, usually at MWC. But it looks like the company will not launch the device at least until April, as the company says that the phone will be launched “when the time is right.”

Last year at IFA, we saw the release of LG’s latest handset, the LG V30. LG has made an arrangement for launching at least of its flagship models in a year, one refers to G-Series and the other one comes in V-Series. The South Korean manufacturer has recently revealed that LG G7 is right on track for release and that more information on when it will be announced will be revealed later. However, the company also hints that the name of the upcoming G-Series smartphone may not be G7. According to the statement,

“The successor to the G6 is on schedule and the official name will be announced when the time is right. Until then, reports of a decision being made on the timing and name are all speculative.”

Other rumors earlier surfaced about the upcoming G-series smartphone hints towards full view 18:9 4K OLED display. The smartphone may also feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 chipset. The phone may feature a dual camera setup on the back, but we are not sure about that. The phone is supposed to be Water, Dust, Shock, Vibration, and Temperature resistant.

As the LG V30’s successor is confirmed to hit the shelves before November this year, so whether delayed or not, LG G7 will be released in the first quarter of the year.
