There was a good few years in Hollywood when visual effects technology was improving at such a pace that any other film department had a genuine fear they would soon be consigned to the rubbish bin.
Luckily, as with many industries, the lure of technology has slowed, and older forms of creativity are beginning to take a front seat – and none more so than the make up departments in Hollywood’s film studios.
Elizabeth Yianni-Georgiou is an Oscar nominee for her work on Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, and most recently on Universal’s Dark Universe which launched with Tom Cruise’s The Mummy.
‘There was a huge [VFX] worry but I think Guardians Of The Galaxy chased that concern off,’ she tells Metro.co.uk.
